Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) brings together the combined talents of university students, professional academics and industry leaders with the shared goal of creating a better, more sustainable world through the power of business. Over 30 universities now have SIFE teams across the UK, all of which are dedicated to harnessing the energy, motivation and intelligence of their students to create better relations and improve the lives of their local communities and beyond. During this process, students learn how to reduce environmental degradation and the whole community benefits from their passion and energy.
We first became aware of this organisation when a former SIFE Regional Manager came to work at EnvirUP. This lead to the Managing Director at EnvirUP judging the best SIFE projects within a regional round of a national competition. From then on, Environmental Training was provided to SIFE teams to inspire 'Low Carbon' projects. It is due to this intricate understanding and agreement with SIFE's underlying philosophy (business is a powerful force for change), that will be donating 5% of the revenue made from the Green Index to create a fund.
Each of the SIFE university teams will be able to bid into this fund and EnvirUP will provide grants of up to £500, to be invested in environmental education for disadvantaged members of communities across the UK. We know that 100% of our donations will be invested by SIFE towards doing something good, and it will be our privilege to report back to you the positive impacts that this funding has on the environment!
